End of the world parties for Large Hadron Collider
Australia And I fell fine
The Large Hadron Collider, which will be switched on at about 6.30pm (AEST) [10 September 2008], is set to be one of the largest physics experiments in history but has been dubbed a "doomsday device" by critics."There's been suggestions of coming dressed in black to match the black hole that will be formed," Mr Hibbert-Wells told NEWS.com.au.
Lest we forget, Spence has has forwarded the outline of what this means: http://www.cracked.com/article_16583_5-scientific-experiments-most-likely-end-world.html
UPDATE, 9/19 - Apparently, after switching the LHC on last week, they had a malfunction the following day. They just didn't feel like telling anyone about it until this week. Makes you feel comfortable about them giving us ample notice about the inevitable blackholes/time warps/end of the world scenarios, yes? (BAM)
