Troubling the Peace. I know it's dorky, but I'm excited for C.J. Lee's new book for three reasons. First, A Troubled Peace was the last major project I worked on at good ol' CMC and during the two-month gap between school and gainful employment. Second, my copy came yesterday. And third, I got a nice mention in the "acknowledgements"; sure so did 50 other people and I got more acknowledgment in U.S. Security under Clinton and Bush, but at least I beat out the family! w00t!
Greatest CJ Lee Quotes of All Time
"You forgot 38th parallel. 58%!"
"Are you this bad in all your classes?"
"Oh, I miss big chance."
"Why are you here? Why you in my class? You go away. Already too many people!"
I should note that, in addition to making me research, summarize, catalogue, and give an overview for "all mentions of 'Korea' in the Congressional Record, 1990 to now", CJ Lee really was a great professor and employer. He gave me a job when I had an afro and questionable facial hair (summer '03), gave me complete freedom to do whatever random task he threw me, helped me win a fellowship and get paid for my thesis, kept me employed after graduation, and helped me get my first job.
Thanks for everything, Prof. Lee!
